Netcomm Award 2021: Treccani Emporium awarded for the best UX

Treccani together with Kooomo, ZeroGrey and GreatPixel for a cultural eStore made in Italy and mobile first.

Best user experience. This is the prize won by Treccani Emporium – the eStore of the well-known institution of Italian knowledge – at the Netcomm Award 2021, the award that every year highlights the most innovative projects in the field of ecommerce at national level.

Nominated in the Start up, User experience and Business Innovation categories, the Treccani project developed by ZeroGrey with the ecommerce platform Kooomo, and GreatPixel – which handled the design of the customer journey and the design of the site – was named the winner of the User Experience category for "having designed an ecommerce in a mobile-first key and having built a graphic storytelling capable of enhancing the philosophy and history of the products" - was the Netcomm Award jury’s motivation.

The Treccani Emporium website is more than just an ecommerce, it is a real marketplace. The eStore was launched in August 2020, using the technology of Kooomo – the latest generation SaaS platform – and the know-how of GreatPixel, all led by eCommerce agency ZeroGrey. Divided into six sections – design & high craftsmanship, art, stationery, publishing, food & wine and education – this eStore hosts both Treccani-branded products (fine books, Bottega Treccani creations, as well as t-shirts and notebooks, water bottles and pencils) and products of Italian excellence. There is one condition, however: the brands on sale in the Emporium must have an entry in the Treccani encyclopedia. To date, more than 200 Italian brands have been included, such as Brionvega, Paolo Castelli, Penne Aurora, Montegrappa, Ceramiche Gatti, Venini, Alma Charta and Tallone Editore.
"The secret of Treccani Emporium's success” – says Giovanni Meda, founder of Kooomo – “is continuous improvement. We started last year quickly, with a project that went live in just over a month, and then we worked daily, taking advantage of feedback, to improve day after day. The award is proof that in Europe we have all the skills to excel and we are happy to work with the best partners to achieve these results.”

"This is a project in which we put our best energies. Treccani is one of the most loved brands by Italians, a cultural reference point, and our ambition is to turn this site into a portal of Italian excellence," said Simone De Ruosi, general manager of ZeroGrey. “We should consider this award an important milestone, which certifies the quality of the work done so far and on which to base the expansion of the project and the digital transformation of Italian culture. We are working on various projects to combine technology and culture, such as printing on demand, marketplace, online education and marketing automation. We are proud to be at the side of Treccani, which has the courage to carry out this revolution.

"GreatPixel found itself in the ideal environment to apply our design methodology based on Neuromarketing and User Experience design techniques,” says Giovanni Pola, founder and CEO of GreatPixel. “We studied the creativity of the site, taking full advantage of both the wonderful story that Treccani Emporium has to tell and the powerful and flexible technology provided by ZeroGrey".
